What to Expect - Tips for Your Newborn Session

Updated: Jan 29, 2021

Hey Y'all! I wanted to share a few tips to help you prepare for your newborn session whether it's in studio or in your home. My goal is to ensure that your session goes as smoothly as possible for you and your new little bundle of JOY!

NUMBER (1) Prepare or Pack the essentials! Prepare/Pack extra diapers and wipes. We will likely use extras as we change outfits throughout the session.

NUMBER (2) If your baby takes a pacifier please bring it. It can be a HUGE help soothing the baby when settling between changing poses.

NUMBER (3) Mom & Dad please have/bring extra clothes if you are going to be in photos. Please wear solid/neutral colored clothes (avoid patterns or bright colors).

NUMBER (4) If possible feed the little one before your session (or when you arrive if you have a longer drive to the studio). If baby has a full tummy that typically helps the session go great!

NUMBER (5) It's great to dress baby in sleeper sack or outfit that unzips easily. If you can bring a blanket with you to cover baby between poses that is a big help!

NUMBER (6) Snacks and drinks for mom and dad. The session time can vary depending on the little one, so we want to make sure mom and dad don't get hangry :) I try to keep some items in my studio, but everyone's dietary needs are different so bringing some with you is a great idea too.

NUMBER (7) Bring food for baby in whatever way you feed. We are breastfeeding friendly (and formula), so no worries there!

Thank you for sharing your bundle of JOY with me! This is such a precious time and goes by so quickly!
