  • I'm kind of awkward in pictures. Will you help direct me?
Absolutely! My goal is to make you comfortable, to provide pictures that you love, and make you feel confident! Sometimes I may direct you where or how to stand, what to do with your hands, or ask you to do something silly to help create a real moment that feels and looks natural.
  • How do I book a session?
The easiest ways to reach me are by phone (214)861-1892, contact form, or the Facebook page. Let me know the date and time you need. I will send you a contract and invoice (due by the session date) and we will get you on the books.
  • How long will it take to get my pictures?
Within two weeks of you session or wedding.
  • How do I get my pictures?
I send your images to you in an online gallery. You can download the number noted in your contract. Additional digitals and prints are available for purchase through the gallery.
  • How much retouching do you do?
For standard sessions I take a minimalistic approach to editing. I make standard edits in my style to ensure image looks great. You are beautiful the way you are! I do typically provide a number of black and white images in my galleries. Some sessions do require a different approach on editing such as newborn and styled sessions.
  • How long have you been taking pictures?
My interest started in photography in my early teens. I started New Joy Photography when I was 16. That was 20 years ago. Dang, I just aged myself!
  • Is an engagement or bridal session needed?
YESSSS! Can I say that again? Yes! I am a huge believer in documenting your memories and the big moments. Is it an investment? Yes, but these are the moments you want and NEED to look back on in your life in the years to come. Plus, they are fun and a great way for us to get to know each other before the big day. The wedding day is busy! Taking photos before the wedding in a relaxed setting is a great idea! I don't require either, but I defintely recommend them.
  • I'm pregnant and want to have pictures but do I really need announcement, maternity, newborn, sitter, etc?"
This time of your life is one of the most amazing and QUICKLY change times. So, yes, please document. Memories like these come and go so quickly. Hang them on your walls and cherish them! Annoucement, maternity, fresh 48, newborn, sitter, cake smashes, and every other milestone is SO precious! It goes so fast.
  • Do you require a deposit?
A deposit is required for weddings and multi-hour sessions.
  • What payment forms do you accept?
I accept all major credit/debit cards, checks, and cash. Images are delivered only asfter receipt of payment.
  • Is your wedding coverage consecutive?
Yes, if we are scheduled for 4 hours and you want me to start at 2pm I will be there until 6pm. If you need extra hours I'm happy to do so at my additional hourly rate.
  • Can I print my pictures?
Absolutely! I recommend using a professional printer. I have a fantastic one linked to your gallery that you can order directly from. I offer a wide variety of print finishes, canvases, metal prints, and more. If you don't see it in the gallery offerings I can custom quote you just about anything you want.
  • Are you insured?
I am insured. I have a General Liability Business Policy specifically for Photographers. This is very important.
  • I'm kind of nervous about having my baby photographed. Is it safe?
Ok, so this is BIG! There are some key things that are very important whether you book with me or elsewhere. NEVER leave a baby unattended no matter what pose they are in. If I need to move away from the beanbag or prop I will always ask someone to stay by the baby. If a pose has any chance that baby can startle or move I will ask a spotter to put a hand on baby at ALL times other than for a brief moment when I snap a photo then the hand will be placed back on baby immediately. Props that could topple should be weighted. If you have younger siblings it's important to keep in mind that it may be safer to do a composite image than photographing them together. Listen to the photographer's suggestion if they think it best. I have a smaller studio, so I do suggest bringing two cars so that we can do sibling photos first so that siblings can go get a bite to eat or go play outside while we finish the session. Sessions can take a while and it can be quite boring to be cooped up in a small space or really just anywhere not having fun for a while.
