Preparing for the Session:

  1. Booking the Session: The first step to embarking on this memorable journey is to book your newborn session with New Joy Photography. It's recommended to schedule the session well in advance, ideally during your pregnancy. Newborn photography is best captured within the first two weeks of your baby's life, so early planning is essential. Sessions are considered booked when your contract is signed.

  2. Communication with the Photographer (Me!): Before the session date, you'll have the opportunity to communicate with me, sharing your preferences, ideas, and any specific poses or setups you have in mind. This ensures that the session is personalized to reflect your unique family dynamic and style. My priority is your baby's safety and comfort, so no poses are guaranteed.

  3. Choosing Outfits and Props: I provide an array of props, wraps, and accessories for the session. However, feel free to bring along any special items or outfits that hold sentimental value to you and I will do my best to include them. Simple, neutral-colored clothing for parents and siblings is often recommended to keep the focus on the newborn and those in the images.

  4. Feeding and Comforting Your Baby: A well-fed and content baby is more likely to be comfortable during the photo shoot. On the day of the session, ideally feed your little one before arriving at the studio. However, many of my clients drive an hour or more, so it is completely expected to take some time to feed and change baby upon arrival. I'm not in a hurry and want the session to be a relaxed and pleasant experience. Additionally, don't worry if your baby needs a few extra cuddles, diaper changes, or feeding breaks during the shoot – this is entirely normal and allows for the best possible outcome.

What to Expect During the Session:

  1. Warm and Cozy Atmosphere: The studio at New Joy Photography is thoughtfully designed to provide a warm and inviting space for your newborn. The comfort of the baby is of utmost importance, so the room is typically kept at a warmer temperature to keep your little one cozy. If you get warm at any point don't hesitate to let me know. I try to offer water and snacks, but feel free to bring your own if you have dietary restrictions. I have a seating area so you can comfortably watch your baby's session.

  1. A Patient and Skilled Photographer: My experience in newborn photography has given me the ability to understand the nuances of working with delicate babies. I prioritize your baby's safety and well-being, employing gentle techniques to achieve those adorable poses. I will never force a baby into a pose. I will not use poses I feel are unsafe or uncomfortable for a baby.

  1. Sibling and Family Shots: If you have older children or want to include family members in the session, New Joy Photography encourages family shots with the full newborn session option. This is a fantastic opportunity to capture the love and connection between siblings and parents with the newest addition to the family. These early moments go by incredibly quickly as babies change so much from day to day.

After the Session:

  1. Editing of the Images: Shortly after the photo shoot post processing begins. Newborn images require specific editing techniques that take some time and attention to detail. I edit skin flakes, redness, baby acne, etc. I do not edit birth marks or natural physical features. If something is desired or not preferred, please let me know.

  2. Gallery Reveal and Ordering Session: Once editing is completed you will receive an email that your gallery is ready! I often post sneak peaks during the editing process so follow my Facebook and Instagram, so you don't miss anything. The email you receive when your gallery is ready has a link to a video that gives you a tour through a sample gallery to show you how to select your favorites, download included digitals, order print products or additional digital images. At any time don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. You can also view the gallery video guide here: Gallery Information | New Joy Photography | Wolfe City

  3. Delivery of Print Products: If you have any included prints in your package they will be ordered on your behalf and sent to you. You can also order directly in your gallery from a fantastic pro printer.

Conclusion:
